Application Download:

Note: This was designed and tested for Windows Mobile 2003 SE on an IPAQ 2000 Series.  I think this should work for other PDAs but since this was my first time creating a PDA application there may be some compatibility issues.  Especially with the sound library I used (FMOD) as it seemed to have different versions for different platforms.

Demo Version:

I created a demo version of the application at Adam's suggestion so that people could try it out to make sure the application would work on their device before becoming a Premium Subscriber.

Limitations of the Demo version:

- Only has sound on the pronunciation guide page, this way you can test if the library I am using to implement sound will work correctly for you.

- Only has the first 25 characters from the Level 1 data file, this way you can make sure that the characters will display properly on the application and give you a feel for how it looks.

- Has a three minute time limit, the application will shut itself down after three minutes of use.

PDA Demo:

To download the MSI installer of the demo use this link:

Demo - MSI (ActiveSync Install)

To download the CAB file for the application (to install from your PDA) use one of the following links:

Demo (ARM) - For systems before WM 2003

Demo (ARMV4) - For WM 2003 and greater.

Windows Demo:

Download Demo in ZIP format (For people who have problems with MSIs)

Full Version:

Please see Adam's site (the link below) to download the full version of the application.  You must be a premium subscriber to access the download links, but since you can donate any amount to become a premium subscriber, it should be accessible for everyone.

Other things you may need:

MS Song Font, you will need this to view the Chinese characters in the application.  I'm not sure if this is the best place to link to for downloading it, but it is what I found in Google.  Otherwise you should be able to get this through Microsoft somehow, I just wasn't sure how.

MS Song Download

Since I was lazy and wrote this in .NET the compact framework will be required to run the application.  I think that Windows Mobile 2003 SE comes with it in ROM so you won't need to install it, but I'm not sure about other versions so I'm including a link to it here.

.NET Compact Framework

And as Adam pointed out to me, you might need to have the Windows .NET1.1 framework to run the MSI installer.  I sort of take that as a given that all machines will have that because I am a .NET Developer, but I should have realized that not everyone has that so you can grab the Windows 1.1 framework here:

Windows .NET 1.1 Framework

Windows Version:

You will need the .NET 1.1 framework to run the application, see the link above for a download if you don't already have it.

If you are using the Windows version you need the MS Song font set for it to work properly.  I can probably change that to use a different font set if there are too many problems getting the MS Song font, but you can get the font from Microsoft from here:
